AdWords User Interview - Studio 132

BZ Lewis:  Hello, my name is BZ Lewis. I'm the owner of Studio 132 and we found out by testing different ads we've been able to find out what our customers are really looking for and our click-through rate has gone up 300%.

Doctor Popular: I first heard about Studio132 when I did a Google search and I was going to try a couple places but luckily BZ sounds like a good fit, so I've been using Studio 132 ever since then.

Margaret Lewis: Having a small business especially in a music industry has a whole bunch of challenges and one is like how to get the word out, how do you let people really know where you are.

BZ Lewis:  I was doing an AdWord campaign that I’d sort of started myself but it wasn’t doing anything, I mean – I mean nothing, I mean I wasn’t getting a single pit, not a single phone call, nothing.

Amanda Kelly: Studio 132 offers a lot of great services but they won’t get a lot of clicks. A low click-through rate may mean that there's an ad text problem or people just aren't connecting the ad to what they're searching for. It's usually very difficult to guess what's going to make a person click on the ad which is why it's a good idea to test out a few different ads and let customers vote with their clicks. By writing two or more ads for every ad groups, AdWords can test out the different ads, determined which ad generates the most clicks and then make sure that that ad is serve most often.

The first thing we did with Studio 132 was to organize their keywords into tightly theme ad groups, so we could then write ads that were very specific to each of the keywords and the ad groups. We then wrote a few ads for every ad group. Testing out things like different headlines, different ad text and making to put some of the keywords from every ad group like recording or mixing into the ad text and headlines that those terms are bold up when people search for them. We also make sure to include a clear call to action like call us today, so people would know what to do.

BZ Lewis: To add the new ads we went to the ad variations tab and click create a new text ad from there we typed in the new ad text and click save ad. So, a few weeks after changing our campaign around, our click-through rate round up 300% and so now we're getting a lot more calls.

Margaret Lewis: It's nice to know that more income is coming in but also the business is really growing.

BZ Lewis: After I got the site optimized, suddenly that first month I had four extra gigs, I mean out of nowhere, I mean that could have only have come from the optimization. The thing that I've gotten about the whole Google AdWords Optimization is just being way more savvy with the whole Google AdWords approach, ad text variations, and different keywords with different geo-targeting. It's really easy, it takes me about 10 minutes a week but it really helps my business. Testing ad is a little bit like mixing a song, you have to see how they are all work together to create a mix and you just have to do it until you can see what resonates with the customers.
